Make creepy crawly spiders from everyday household materials. Choose from the furry legged egg carton or the stumpy paper towel roll. Each spider has it’s own personality and is sure to spook you this Halloween season.

Egg Carton Spiders

Things You’ll Need

Egg carton
Pipe cleaners
Peel & stick wiggle eyes
Black acrylic paint
Foam paint brush
Scissors
Hot glue gun

Step 1: Make the Spider Body
The body of the spider will be made from an egg carton. Cut one section off and trim around the bottom to make it even.

Step 2: Paint the Body
Using a foam brush, paint the outside of the egg carton with black acrylic paint. Allow to dry.

Step 3: Poke Holes for Legs
With the tip of the scissors, poke 4 holes on each side of the carton for the legs. Leave a gap at the front and the back.

Step 4: Attach Pipe Cleaners
From the under side of the carton, criss cross 4 pipe cleaners evenly through the holes and secure with hot glue.

Step 5: Form the Pipe Cleaners into Legs
Bend each pipe cleaner to create 8 spider legs. Peel and stick the wiggle eyes to bring your spider to life.

Paper Towel Roll Spiders

Things You’ll Need

Paper towel roll or toilet paper roll
Peel & stick wiggle eyes
Black acrylic paint
Foam paint brush
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Ruler
Pencil
Step 1: Cut the Paper Towel Roll and Paint
Cut the tube to 3 1/4 inch and paint the outside black with a foam brush. Allow to dry.

Step 2: Cut Slits in the Roll
Cut 10 – 1 1/2 inch slits on each end of the tube.

Step 3: Create a Dome
On one side, bend the pieces towards the center, creating a dome. Apply a little hot glue under the top flaps to secure.

Step 4: Fold Flaps
On the other side, fold two flaps under — one on the front and one on the back, leaving you with 4 sections on each side.

Step 5: Cut Flaps in Half
Cut each of the remaining flaps in half and fold every other one towards the center, creating 8 spider legs.

Step 6: Fold Legs
Fold each leg so the body sits above the surface. Add the finishing touches with wiggle eyes and paper fangs.
